Referee Herb Dean wanted Nog to tap

Long time successfull referee of the UFC has spoken finally about Mir vs. Big Nog bout @ UFC 140.

"In my mind, I was hoping that he would tap. Like, ‘Please, please make this easy for me. That looks like it’s on.’ I definitely had a heightened awareness at that time. I was really focused on that arm. But that’s how Antonio became who he is -- he didn’t get there by giving up. That guy’s done things that everyone thought was impossible time and time again because he never gives up. I stopped it because I saw the arm break. The tap came after. I don’t stop it when I believe it’s locked on or even if I believe the guy’s in jeopardy because I don’t know what that person can take. I don’t know what their limits are, but if I see an injury that is too dangerous for the fight to continue, that’s when I’m going to stop the fight. Or if I see the fighter tap. He was very calm. He’s an exceptional person. Even during that, with coordinating with the physicians and him getting out of there, at some point he started taking an active role. ‘OK, Herb, I want you to help me up.’ He was pretty calm through it."

Lyoto Macida talks on his defeat

"We set a game plan that, from where I’m standing, until a certain moment, was working, but he landed that elbow and I got dizzy, I couldn’t see things straight anymore and it disturbed me because I couldn’t see. And on that moment I thought, 'I gotta do my best here and now.' I felt him lose a little on the first round, but I was focused on not making it a big deal, because each round was a different one and I had to win them all. I did my game and he was falling for it. He took me down, launching an elbow on me, and that surprised me a little, because I thought he would take me down but I would have a little time to think it straight. It was very fast and I had my head close to the fence, he hit me with an elbow, I couldn’t see and I tried to stand up and he hit me even more. I stood up and the judge interrupted, but we started fighting again and I didn’t have enough time to recover from that."

Tito has one more fight in his contract before retirement

Tito lost his bout against Lil Nog @ UFC 140. In the post fight interview with Joe Rogan he said: “I take my hat off to him.  That body shot hurt me.  My game plan was to get on top and do a ground-and-pound. I gave it my all. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.  I’m going to take some time off and enjoy the holidays with my family. I have one more fight in my contract.  I’m going to give the fans one more fight that is my best.

UFC President Dana White wasn't so sure on that. He stated:  “I gotta talk to Tito. We’ll see. I’m always looking out for guys’ health. It’s not like Tito got vicously knocked out tonight; he got punished to the ribs. We’ll see.”

Jones chokes out Machida, the reign continues.

The bout started  with Jones' creepy and weird acting like he did last fight with Rampage. Machida wasn't allowed to kick since he kept one of his hands  on the ground. Then Jones started low not effective kicks. Machida found his range and started countershots.  That was the first time we've ever seen Jones like that. It felt like Machida caught him with some nice shots. Probably Machida won the first round. In the second round, Machida kept the same strategy and hit with some counter punches. Jones had a nice takedown and cut Machida with a blasting elbow to the forehead. The cut was ugly and referee had to stop the fight and get the doctor examine  the cut. The fight countinued from where it was, and that was the same clinch position. Jones started landing knees to his opponent.  Jones caught Machida with a huge left causing him drop. Machida got back to his feet and caught by Jones' guillotine choke standing. Machida refused to tap and when the ref stopped the bout by seeing his left hand give up, he was dropped with unconsciousness. 

In the post fight interview Jones talked on the punches he was caught "He didn't have me hurt, but he did hit me pretty good. He's just smart. He kicked really hard. He knows his range. He has good tactics. He was a challenge." To be honest this defense was the toughest fight Jon Jones ever had.

Big Nog loses rematch with a brutally broken arm!

In the very first round Frank Mir had a lock on Kimura shoulder lock. Nog tried to escape with rolling, but Mir took on top and blocked his espace moves. Nog insisted on not tapping which resulted a badly broken bone which will keep him on the shelf for a long time. Nog's camp wanted to surgery in the LA and asked Dana White to fly him there and have the surgery. Big Nog is a very long time black belt in jiu jitsu. He was stubborn enough not to tap. But this mistake will keep him out for a very long time. Frank Mir also broke Tim Slyvia's arm several years ago. This man is dangerous!
