Melvin Guillard wants the next title shot with win over Jim Miller

Frankie Edgar to defend his title @ Japan

UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will be defending his title in Japan on Feb. 26, 2012.
He is most likely to expect Clay Guida - Ben Henderson winner.

Mark Munoz wants his title shot!

"I feel that I deserve the title shot and here's my argument. I lost to Yushin Okami, close split decision. He ended fighting ... for the title. Since then I've been on a four fight winning streak. My third fight in my winning streak I fought Demian Maia, who was a number one contender and fought for the title. I Ended up beating him in a unanimous decision. My next fight, Chris Leben, my fourth fight in my winning streak, I fought him and you guys saw what I did to him. So having beat two top five guys, two number one past contenders, losing to Yushin Okami and being on a four fight winning streak, I feel that I'm next in line. I think that's a valid argument. Chael Sonnen loses, had his chance, wins one and now he gets a title shot? No. I feel that I'm more of the person who should get a title shot."

Soares: Silva doesn't feel Sonnen deserves title shot

Anderson Silva's lmanager Soares  told these about Silva vs. Sonnen II in an interview

“Anderson just feels that he doesn’t deserve it yet. He doesn’t deserve it yet. … A lot of people are interested in the fight. It’s a big fight. Anderson’s not ducking him. Anderson, right now, is focused on recouping his shoulder, and basically he’s going through physical therapy on that just to get that back 100 percent.

But you know what? Whoever Dana puts in front of us, for the most part, we’re always going to take the fight. Silva has never dodged any fights. It’s really not up to us to determine. … I’m not saying that’s who we want or who we don’t want. People ask my opinion, and I see what Anderson’s saying. He’s fought him once. He had his opportunity, but hey, if Dana wants to put the fight on again, we’ll cross that bridge when it comes.”

About a potential fight with TUF 14 coach Bisping;

“I’ll be honest with you: I never even really thought of Bisping too much. Not that I didn’t respect him as a fighter -- I do. It was just that it didn’t cross my mind because there’s so many things happening all the time. People talk about Chael and Brian Stann, and sometimes people are focused on the TUF show. But I think Bisping could be a good opportunity. GSP could be a good opportunity. There’s a lot of great opportunities, and I do think the Chael fight could potentially sell. It could be a big seller. I think it could be a huge pay-per-view. So I see all angles of it, but I’m just expressing what Anderson has talked to me about. That’s how he feels.”

In my opinion Chael Sonnen can't deserve his title shot more than now! He aldready had his clearance from drug testing, and it was a dominant performance of Sonnen which was lost with a mistake. Actually he shouldn't insist on ground and pound punishing though he was already winning it with the judges score.

Chael Sonnen secures his title shot with a tremendous victory!

Chael Sonnen started the game with a take down attempt in the first seconds. It was very clever of the team doing that. He pressed him and moved the position to clinch. Later Chael topped him and had the control in the ground. He became really aggressive trying to secure shots and tire Stann. He evaded Brian Stann's iron fists and used his wrestling weakness in a way. He never left him any space to work out. These guys started training together in the past and have some good relations outside the cage. So Chael has a better knowing of his style and had a perfect game plan in my opinion. The first round went this way with Stann never having the chance to stand up where he is mostly very dangerous.

Stann started the second round with a leg kick, unfortunately for him the kick was caught and he was put to ground with another double leg takedown. Chael tried mounting but gave up without securing position. Ref seperated the guys on the ground for not working, which we didn't understand the way he understood. Stann threw   a great hook combo and Chael seemed tagged. However he came out so strong and secured a clinch closing the distance and took him down with a beautfiul slam! He had the the side control, got Stann's arm switching to arm triangle choke. The choke wasn't that enough to press the veins for sleep. So he very quickly hopped to the other side of him to tighten the choke. Eventually couldn't resist more and forced to tap out  against his opponent.

The post fight interview with Joe Rogan was a calling out! He exactly said : "Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck! Superbowl weekend, the biggest rematch in the history of the business. I'm calling you out, Silva, but we're upping the stakes. I beat you, you leave the division. You beat me, I will leave the UFC forever!"

The cameras concentrated Anderson Silva who was also at the Toyota Center, he was smiling  and shown a surprised facial expression. By beating Stann he proved he can challenge Silva one more time.

Silva vs. Sonnen expected very soon !

Thats a part of an interview with UFC President talking about the rematch.

Q: What was going through your mind when Chael Sonnen went on a spiel (about Anderson Silva)?

White: That's very Chael.

Those guys really don't like each other. Anderson, I don't know if any of you saw his face when (Chael) won, but he wasn't doing the whole joking around thing.

He (Silva) was (ticked) and he's really upset about the whole smacking his wife on the butt thing and cook him dinner. He's really upset about it. He's really (ticked) about it.

So you're making that fight then?

Probably, yeah. More than likely. I don't like to commit to anything the night of the fight, you know what I mean? But yeah, I'd be pretty (freaking) stupid if I don't make that fight.
