Dana White had to convince Silva to fight in Vegas

It took UFC President White 75 minutes to convince Silva to fight Sonnen in Vegas instead of Rio de Janeiro. Silva wanted the bout to happen in Rio. Silva thought Sonnen was disrespectful with him, his family and the Brazilian fans and told "He deserves to taught a lesson here, I owe this to my people". Dana declined saying  "If there is no way how to make the event in a stadium, it has to be in Las Vegas" and promised Silva a good share of the PPV buys.

Frank Mir Thinks That Fighting in Brazil Is Probably a Bad Idea

Frank Mir: The only reason why I at first said, ‘hmmm, maybe not a good idea’ (was) when I found out he wanted to fight in June in Brazil. I was like, ‘Ah, I don’t know if that would be such a great idea, I don’t know if I’m gonna be that well received there.’
I’d have to go there for a whole week with my family, my wife and my children … I don’t think I’m in (Chael Sonnen’s) boat yet. But at the same time if I go to a restaurant and someone is a Nogueira fan, what are they gonna do to my food? Brazilian fans, fans in general, can be kinda crazy … I’ve received quite a few crazy Emails … Google translate is a phenomenal thing but it kind of makes you cringe a little bit when you see what people wanna say.

Munoz: Sonnen Shouldn’t Worry About Danger In Brazil, Because He Won’t Be Going

UFC Top Contender is ready for Sonnen, kicks off the talk!

“I have power in my hands. Chael gets on top of people but doesn’t finish them. I finish guys. It’s what I do. I go out there and the guns are blazing. On the feet or on the ground it doesn’t matter. I’m going to demonstrate that power every chance I get. There isn’t any animosity between us. He’s a nice guy. We actually have pleasant conversations together where we talk about wrestling. We’re managed by the same manager and we see each other frequently. I don’t have anything bad to say about him and the dude can market a fight. He talks the way he talks and he backs it up by the way he fights. I’m going to let my fighting do the talking. That’s how I got to this point in my career.

Anderson tends to have trouble with wrestlers. I’m a strong wrestler and I go out there and make it dirty. That’s exactly how Chael is. He goes out there, gets in your face and grinds out matches. I’m the same kind of fighter but I demonstrate more power. When we are on the ground you do not want me on top of you. I’m confident in every position and I’ve never been submitted in a fight.

Fans haven’t had the opportunity to actually see my jiu-jitsu, but I have great jiu-jitsu defense which actually compliments my wrestling and allows me to do what I do best. The Donkey Kong comes out. I get on top of someone and then boom, boom, boom. It’s just what I do.

There are bounties for Chael down in Brazil. But he doesn’t have to worry about it, because he’s not going to have to go down there.

Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami fight impressions @ UFC 134

No one can deny that Anderson Silva is the most feared fighter and the best in the sports. He had no loss since 2006 which was against Yushin Okami. He lost the bout due to illegal kick disqualification. He never seen this as a defeat, and very angry about that fight. His aim was to clear this from his record, and he did that indeed. That was his 9th title defence, and obviously he doesn't seem to lose that belt anytime soon. Any of his fights we've seen he beats the opponents in ease and somehow makes us feel that these highest level fighters seem like rookies in the sport. So here is what happened in Rio.

Anderson Silva started his fight very cautious like we used to see him in his title defences. He analyzed his opponent's moves, stances and the distance. Okami threw some punches while Silva kept his stance. Okami tried taking Silva down a couple of times with no success. His attempts were easily avoided. Getting close to that round's end Silva landed a solid uppercut connecting it with a head kick, making him daze. Fortunately for Okami the round ended right after that kick. Okami was more aggressive through the round though the best kick landed was Silva's to the head.

Second round started with both fighters trading punches, later Silva started pushing forward. After a couple of punches he decided to drop his guard. He started mocking Okami. He dodged Okami's right and countered his strike dropping him down. He didn't go over him and let Okami get back to his feet. Silva continued mocking with hands on his sides once again, Okami didn't even try to hit him for a minute. His confidence was destroyed. He again got dropped by a heavily landed right by Silva, this time Silva started pushing forward. He began landing punches with knees to the body. Okami hopelessly failed to respond these punches making the referee stop the fight.
