Jon Jones: I'm defending the honor of this team

“One part that is kind of there, I kind of feel like I’m defending kind of like the honor of this team. Rashad’s been badmouthing this team and really calling our team cliche and commercial and just really badmouthing Greg and our program’s loyalty and everything like that. I think he kind of has it all twisted in his own head, feeling as if people betrayed him. And, really, this is a family here and it’s the same program that it’s always been. Yeah, he’s been here longer than me but he doesn’t realize how much a family this team still is. There’s more people on this team than just the UFC fighters. We start from kids, to kids with no money, to kids who can’t speak English, there’s a whole family here. I’m here to defend this family and to defend everything he’s kind of said about us. I feel like me beating him solidifies that this is a program that’s going to live without him.”

Jon Jones signing UFC 145 contract

Jon Jones has no interest of fighting Silva

“My job is to be prepared to face the best in the world. I’d rather not deal with Anderson, but if I have to fight him, I will focus on my confidence and on my technique. I respect and look up to him so much. For me, the ideal scenario would be having him as my mentor and learn with him after he retires. It would be great for me. That would be ideal, but the world wants to see us fighting.”

This picture doesn't represent current title holders

Dana White: Henderson still waiting for title shot!

Dana White: “He wants a title fight. He either wants Anderson Silva or whoever has the belt at 185 or the winner of Evans and Jones,” White said at the recent UFC on Fox 3 press conference in New York City. “Last time I talked to Henderson, he wanted to wait to fight one of these guys for the title. He’ll fight whoever has that belt,” said White, musing on situation. “Dan doesn’t seem too picky, I think he would fight Chael Sonnen if he won the belt from Silva.”

Jon Jones Wanted to Move to Heavyweight, UFC said no.

"I actually asked Dana and Lorenzo, could I take a fight for the fans at the end of 2012. I figured beating Henderson and Rashad, there would be a period where we'd figure out who I'm going to fight next, and during that period, at the end of 2012, I asked to fight a heavyweight,  a Top 10 heavyweight. Dana and Lorenzo didn't think that was the best for me to do right now.  They wanted me to continue at the light heavyweight division. ... They said they didn't want that for me

Jon Jones on Evans & Davis' performances

"I think his(Evan's) top control looked a little tighter. I think his guard passes looked pretty decent. With that being said, Phil, man, I don't know what got into him. He did not look like a lion. I think with fighters, no matter how tough you are, there's just lions and there's wolves and there's sheep. He just kind of looked like a sheep out there. He didn't come with much."

Jones vs. Henderson fight may happen soon ?

Jones told that he wants to fight asap. And we already know Dan Henderson wants to test Jones' chin. And Rahsad Evans vs. Phil Davis is going to happen soon. In the meantime why not a title fight could happen. It's just a rumor for the moment, as people say it could be @ UFC 145. We'll see..

Jon Jones wants to fight as soon as possible!

Dana White : "Jones called about four days ago and said 'okay let's go, I'm done with vacation.' He said he wanted to take all this time off and then they were calling me four days ago saying he wants to fight as soon as possible. He's ready to go. What could end up happening is Dan Henderson fights Jon Jones first, and then Jones' subsequent fight would be close to the time that Rashad fights. Or we see how things go with Rashad versus Phil Davis and Rashad fights him first."

Jon Jones' coach on his potential! "Striking Like Anderson and A Jab Like Muhammad Ali"

He’s constantly wanting to learn and evolve. He’s much better than people have even seen at this point. He’s capable of so many more things that he does in the gym quite often. He has knockout power in both hands when he wants to throw them. He’s just at that point where he doesn’t have enough experience yet to trust his motion and his distancing as Anderson Silva does now. But soon, he’ll be Anderson Silva-like with his standup. And of course he’s at a whole different level when it comes to the ground game.

The sky’s the limit for the kid. People don’t understand. He does have knockout power in both hands, and his feet are getting to the point where people don’t want to be taking those kicks. They will be at the highest K-1 kickboxing level here soon. It’s just a matter of time through repetition and confidence to get there. People haven’t seen how explosive his knees are. We’ve seen him drop elbows on people, but he can do that standing up as well. I know one buzzed by Machida early in the fight. He’s capable of becoming so much better than he is right now. He’s just scary. I don’t know what people are going to do with him. Really. He’s getting faster. I think he’s going to have a jab that’s going to be comparable to a Muhammad Ali jab as far as dominating his opponent when he wants to use it.”

Dana White: Silva close to retiring and he can end his career with a super fight against Jones or GSP!

Dana White : "Age is ... man. It's the only thing you can not cheat. The fighters who become champions never finish their careers at that height. Anderson may have the ability to do this. The problem is that you never know when time will end for you. You are the king of the world, get in there and one day is half a second slower than before, and only you will know right away."

"He could end his career with a super fight against Jon Jones or Georges St-Pierre. Then he could take a boat and sail into the sunset."

Jon Jones still not the best P4P fighter says White

Dana White : "Number two. I mean, I don't know how you deny the guy anymore, he's literally walked through everybody. He's fought four times this year, probably the nastiest schedule in the history of the company. He's incredible, man. He's just walkin' through serious, serious guys. And bustin' 'em up bad. Stopping them, finishing them, you don't see somebody come in and wreck people like this guy."

Jones chokes out Machida, the reign continues.

The bout started  with Jones' creepy and weird acting like he did last fight with Rampage. Machida wasn't allowed to kick since he kept one of his hands  on the ground. Then Jones started low not effective kicks. Machida found his range and started countershots.  That was the first time we've ever seen Jones like that. It felt like Machida caught him with some nice shots. Probably Machida won the first round. In the second round, Machida kept the same strategy and hit with some counter punches. Jones had a nice takedown and cut Machida with a blasting elbow to the forehead. The cut was ugly and referee had to stop the fight and get the doctor examine  the cut. The fight countinued from where it was, and that was the same clinch position. Jones started landing knees to his opponent.  Jones caught Machida with a huge left causing him drop. Machida got back to his feet and caught by Jones' guillotine choke standing. Machida refused to tap and when the ref stopped the bout by seeing his left hand give up, he was dropped with unconsciousness.

In the post fight interview Jones talked on the punches he was caught "He didn't have me hurt, but he did hit me pretty good. He's just smart. He kicked really hard. He knows his range. He has good tactics. He was a challenge." To be honest this defense was the toughest fight Jon Jones ever had.

Randy Couture thinks Jon Jones will have problems facing Machida!

5 time UFC LightHeavyWeight&HeavyWeight  former Champion Legend thinks different than everybody else on the light heavy weight title bout.

"Machida's style was everything I expected it to be. I studied the tapes but he's just hard to get a handle on. I certainly don't thing Jon's going to have an easy time of it catching up with him. He's elusive, he's a great athlete, he's a tremendous counter-fighter and he has a lot of interesting tools. It was an interesting camp for me to prepare for him because he just does a lot of things differently to others guys that I've prepared for. Jon will find the same issues. I don't think it'll be a walkover, I don't think Jon will blow Machida's doors off, but Jon does have everything firing for him right now; he's long, he rangy, he's a tremendous wrestler, he's a tremendous athlete and he can strike with anybody. If Jon can get his hands on Machida he can take him down and it will be interesting to see how Lyoto deals with being under a guy like Jon."
