Kenny Florian not quitting UFC, moving to lightweight.

As the only man who has fought in 4 different weight classes in the UFC, Kenny Florian(14-6) announced he is not ready to quit, and will be moving to lightweight class. Aldo lost the UFC Featherweight Championship against Jose Aldo @ UFC 136. He was unsure about what to do, now considered what needs to get done and finally returning back to his "home" the lightweight division. 

He stated; "I still love this sport tremendously and still want to be a part of it. I know myself, and it's not even just being competitive, but it's just being there, learning and competing. There's still very much a fire burning there so I'm going to do it."  

He now will take some time off to add some weight and get ready for the lightweight class. To be honest he  didn't look any better in featherweight.

Aldo retains title!

Well, the performance and quality of the fight was poor to watch. Here is a summary. Florian had a better first round and in my opinion he won that one. That was probably the only in the bout. He couldn't push the phase in the next rounds. Aldo was dominant in the other rounds but thats it. He knows how to play to score and very well conditioned to succeed. He actually didn't win any new fans with his performance. We need to see better of him. Maybe in the next defense against Chad Mendes!

Edgar shines!

What a great title defense from Frankie Edgar! The first round was pretty much the same of the last fight. Maynard caught&tagged him with punches. This time we really thought Edgar was going down. He came out the strongest and survived those hell blessed strikes. I think that was the break point of the game as Maynard seemed slowing down in the next rounds. Edgar's footwork and speed put Maynard unable to deliver his shots as expected. In the fourth round Frankie caught Maynard with a huge hook to the chin made him out for a while giving the enough time for Edgar to finish the fight with a beautiful TKO. Edgar showed he has the true heart and incredible will power by coming back from another bad first round and winning the fight with a huge victory. Well deserved champion.

Chael Sonnen secures his title shot with a tremendous victory!

Chael Sonnen started the game with a take down attempt in the first seconds. It was very clever of the team doing that. He pressed him and moved the position to clinch. Later Chael topped him and had the control in the ground. He became really aggressive trying to secure shots and tire Stann. He evaded Brian Stann's iron fists and used his wrestling weakness in a way. He never left him any space to work out. These guys started training together in the past and have some good relations outside the cage. So Chael has a better knowing of his style and had a perfect game plan in my opinion. The first round went this way with Stann never having the chance to stand up where he is mostly very dangerous. 

Stann started the second round with a leg kick, unfortunately for him the kick was caught and he was put to ground with another double leg takedown. Chael tried mounting but gave up without securing position. Ref seperated the guys on the ground for not working, which we didn't understand the way he understood. Stann threw   a great hook combo and Chael seemed tagged. However he came out so strong and secured a clinch closing the distance and took him down with a beautfiul slam! He had the the side control, got Stann's arm switching to arm triangle choke. The choke wasn't that enough to press the veins for sleep. So he very quickly hopped to the other side of him to tighten the choke. Eventually couldn't resist more and forced to tap out  against his opponent.

The post fight interview with Joe Rogan was a calling out! He exactly said : "Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck! Superbowl weekend, the biggest rematch in the history of the business. I'm calling you out, Silva, but we're upping the stakes. I beat you, you leave the division. You beat me, I will leave the UFC forever!"

The cameras concentrated Anderson Silva who was also at the Toyota Center, he was smiling  and shown a surprised facial expression. By beating Stann he proved he can challenge Silva one more time.

Edgar vs. Maynard

After their draw @ UFC 125 Resolution the two very successful fighters will be battling once again for the lightweight championship. Frankie Edgar (13–1–1) has his only loss against Maynard(10–0–1). The last title fight Edgard was knocked down and hurt really bad by Maynard in the first round. We still remember his eyes rolling back. Everyone were shocked with the comeback of Frankie. He came back from sleep and showed his heart by not getting KO'ed in the first round. In the second round he hurt Maynard badly. It was a great fight to watch. Both these men are very very well-conditioned and has incredible cardio. The have great striking skills and really fast. Maynard seems to have physical advantage over Frankie, but you never know. So the "Bully" Maynard or "The Answer" Edgar? We'll have to wait another day !

Jose Aldo vs. Kenny Florian

Jose Aldo (19–1) is on a 12 fight streak not having hard time among these fights except his defence against Mark Hominick. Aldo is very powerfull, in a very good condition, his skills are limitless and he is 25. After losing the title eliminator bout against Gray Maynard, Florian dropped to featherweight. The veteran is very skillful. He had beaten such great fighters like Takanori Gomi, Clay Guida and Diego Nunes. We shall now see how much he can do against the beast in the division.

Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann

The bout's winner will be the the no:1 title contender. 

We all remember Sonnen's last fight against Silva. He dominated Silva for 5 rounds and lost via triangle armbar at the very last 2 minutes of the fight. Sonnen (25-11-1) is very powerful wrestler and he has some serious solid boxing skills. Stann (11-3) has wicked boxing and KO power. He is more powerful standing up. Both guys are nervous about the fight as this bout actually can go anywhere at any time and I believe it will be the best among all card!

Anderson Silva injured

Anderson Silva's manager Ed Soares informed the audience that he Silva had injured his shoulder in training for UFC 134 (RIO) last month. He will be most likely out till early 2012, hopefully he can defend his title once again in the first quarter. The team were afraid of a possible surgery, for now it will just need a rehabilitation to heal. By the way there is now no currently a match-up set for title defence. Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann @ UFC 136 result will lead us to an answer.

Brian Stann has won the last 3 fights with a tremendous performance allowing him to fight for the title eliminator against Chael Sonnen. Chael Sonnen was the first fighter who was really close to defeat Silva. He simply dominated Silva till the 5th round. He insisted on ground and pounding Silva which eventually forced him to do a mistake and get caught by a triangle armbar choke at 3:10 of Round 5. Silva is one of the most dangerous guys on the ground to play with. We should also note that Silva came to bout with a broken rib.

Later the fight Chael Sonnen's post fight drug tests he had elevated testosterone level which was outside the normal range resulting him a 2500 $ fine and contract suspension until 9.2.11, later he appealed on 12.2.11. His elevated testosterone was due to his medical status and treatment as to the report. He had some other legal issues which is not about UFC and I don't want to write here. Now he is ready to face Brian Stann for UFC 136
