Woke up at 4 &haven't been able 2go back 2sleep. Grrrr. Thinking about the fight &how things DIDN'T play out. What an opportunity I wasted

Matt Mitrione has his first loss in the UFC against Cheick Kongo

The first round doesn't worth telling it as there has been nothing in terms of quality and joyment. We got bored with the fighters checking their distances. That was hell long and crowd started booing. During the game the octagon control seemed in the hands of Mitrione for the record. The second round was more entertaining. Fighters exchanged their punches.

In the second round Mitrione in my opinion was a better unlike the judges think. The judge scoring it 30-27 is prolly and oldfashioned guy who doesn't have tolerance for some kind of fighters. Mitrone is a huge fun for the sport. He is an entertaining fighter with the funny smile on his face, his different style and actions in the octagon. Anyway, as we get back to fight Mitrione pushed the phase and landed a very solid uppercut.

In the third round fighters showed a better performance. They started turning up the heat although it was too late. Kongo slammed Mitrione on the mat, landed some beautiful shots resulting Mitrione's left eye getting cut. Mitrione knew he had to stand up to land shots and win. As he managed to get back to his feet Kongo took him down for a second time and landed shots from the halfguard. The round finally was over and Kongo won the bout with a unanimous decision. Mitrione failed his task as this bout was the most challenging in his career. He needs better ground game and takedown defense. Kongo is now on a two fights win streak and may get a more serious shot. Maybe Nelson or Big Nog, who knows. He has a great willpower, he moves on steadily.

Mitrione not ready to be No.1

We all have been seeing his brilliant performance in the UFC.  The 33 year old heavyweight believes he is not yet ready to beat the top guys. This is from an interview this week:

“There’s no real reason to throw me to the wolves. Let’s see if I can develop on time and turn into something legitimate. As of right now, I wouldn’t say I’m a legit top 15, top 20 guy in the world, but I’m developing, I’m getting there. I will be there sooner or later.

They don’t pay me to worry about where my placement is in the world or as far as the UFC goes. They pay me to go out there and punch people in the face and win and put on a damn good show. That’s all I really concern myself with.”

About receiving a lot of compliments from journalists, fighters and media;

“Well I appreciate that, but they also said the same thing about Brandon Vera and they also said the same thing about a handful of other guys that showed a tremendous amount of potential, but just never necessarily reached the top. So I appreciate that, but I feel like I’m grounded enough to take that all with a grain of salt.”
