UFC 135 Reviews

Nate Diaz vs.Takanori Gomi: Diaz performed a tremendous performance against Gomi, submitting him in the first round with a beautiful perfectly timed armbar also winning the 75000 $ submission of the night bonus. It was Diaz' return back to lightweight. It was a hell of a return ! His next opponent should be one of the top four he stated after the fight. He also has great respect to his opponent, stating him being the Pride champ for years and one of his favorites.

Ben Rothwell vs. Mark Hunt: This fight was really fun to watch. Ben Rothwell gassed out, Mark Hunt also exhausted but not like Rothwell. Never seen a fighter gassed out this much. In the first round Rothwell seemed strong and in my opinion he won that round. In the break Rothwell was breathing so heavily, and Hunt got really strong in the second round. He was better in the ground, seemed to have improved a lot after his losses via submission. He dominated Rothwell in the second round. Rothwell was hurt and after the round his corner helped him move to his corner! The third round he was even more gassed. He seemed like zombies slowly walking and trying to feed on Hunt. Hunt got exhausted aswell in the third round winning over a unanimous decision against Rothwell.

Travis Browne vs Rob Broughton: Browne defeated his opponent by unanimous decision, dominating the fight. He threw some of his best punches and knees, Broughton was tough and didn't go down. Browne remains unbeaten. But he is still unhappy about not finishing his opponent off as he told Joe Rogan after the fight.

Matt Hughes vs Josh Koscheck: Both fighters wanted victory, only one was happy. Thats the ending of an era for a legend. At the beginning of the fight Hughes started good landing some great punches to his opponent. We had the feeling that Koscheck underestimated his opponent. Koshcheck heard us and landed a very strong right hook and connected with more accurately landing punches. Hughes was in trouble and fell, Koscheck pushed the phase and continued punishing his opponent in the ground. Striking with more hammerfists Hughes was unconscious The referee gave Hughes a plenty of chances but he was really out. He stopped the fight at the last second of round 1.  Koscheck is awarded with 75000$ "knockout of the night" bonus with the great performance. In the post fight interview Hughes said he is not retiring. He loves fighting, he loves training twice a day, he loves being in the octagon. But thats unlikely to happen as this match was the last fight on his contract and he is not  shining anymore. He is on a 2 fight streak loss with TKO in the first round. He is 2 time welterweight champion with seven title defenses and  is a current Hall of Famer. He is 37 years old with a career over 50 fights. He has nothing left to prove. We have great memorable fights of his career. He is a milestone of the UFC and always will be. We love you champ.

Jon Jones vs. Quinton Rampage Jackson: The champion proved himself not being a hype. He is not only the future, he is the present of the sport. Rampage stated "He can the be the future, but I'm the present" before the fight. Jones' capabilities are endless. He started the game crawling confusing Rampage' taking over him, striking his legs countless times to cut down his energy and slow him down, pulling him to the mat with unpredictable moves, punching and striking with wide angles using his reach. Nothing else to say, he well deserved the title. It would very well be a TKO if Rampage wasn't caught submitted in the fourth round. Rampage stated it was the best rampage ever. He was too slow compared to Jones as he avoided his punches very easy. Rampage needs better game strategies to be honest, I just can't understand fighters playing on their only one strongest talents. Rampage has wicked boxing and great in clinch. But thats it. He doesn't like going on the ground, he doesn't throw leg kicks. Jones promises a lot in the future as he achived being the youngest champion in the UFC in only 3 years.
